MANILA — Much of the country will continue to experience isolated rain showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday as localized weather disturbances persist, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The weather bureau said the southwest monsoon, locally known as “habagat,” is affecting several areas in Northern Luzon, including the Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and Zambales, where scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected.
PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rainfall in these areas could trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in vulnerable communities.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country are also forecast to experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorm activity.
Northern Luzon will have moderate to strong winds accompanied by moderate to rough coastal waters, while the rest of the country can expect light to moderate winds and slight to moderate sea conditions.
As of 2 a.m. Tuesday, PAGASA reported that no low-pressure area is being monitored within or near the Philippine Area of Responsibility for possible tropical cyclone development.
