STA. MARIA, Bulacan — Barangay Guyong has officially been declared a drug-cleared barangay after complying with the requirements set by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The certification was awarded in coordination with the local government and partner agencies, recognizing the barangay’s sustained efforts in addressing illegal drug activities within its community.
Authorities said individuals previously listed in the PDEA watchlist in the area have either been cleared or have completed the necessary intervention and rehabilitation programs aimed at steering them away from illegal drug use.
Despite the declaration, officials stressed that anti-illegal drug initiatives in the barangay will continue. Law enforcement authorities are also maintaining operations to prevent the resurgence of illegal drug activities and to pursue possible sources of narcotics.
Barangay Captain Graciano “Garci” Gravador was credited for leading the initiatives that helped the barangay achieve the drug-cleared status. Under his leadership, the barangay has implemented several community-based programs and projects that promote public safety and community development.
Among these initiatives are environmental and livelihood projects, including the barangay’s award-winning garden project, which has received recognition in various local competitions.
Gravador also continues to extend support services to residents through barangay assistance programs. One such program provides financial and logistical assistance to families during bereavement, helping reduce funeral-related expenses for grieving families.
Barangay officials said the recognition reflects the collective efforts of the local government, law enforcement agencies, and the community in keeping illegal drugs out of Barangay Guyong while strengthening programs that prioritize the welfare of its residents.
