MANILA — The southwest monsoon or Habagat will continue to influence weather conditions across the Philippines today, September 1, bringing cloudy skies and rain over several areas, particularly in western sections of Luzon and parts of the Visayas.
PAGASA said monsoon rains may persist over Ilocos Region, Abra, Benguet, Zambales and Bataan, while occasional rains are expected in Metro Manila, the Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, parts of Southern Luzon and Occidental Mindoro.
Other parts of Luzon and the Visayas may experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Meanwhile, generally partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are expected over much of Mindanao.
The weather bureau said similar conditions may continue tomorrow, September 2, as the enhanced Habagat remains active over Luzon and portions of the western Visayas.
Tropical Depression Pilandok, meanwhile, remains far east of extreme Northern Luzon and is forecast to stay away from the Philippine landmass. PAGASA said the cyclone is unlikely to make landfall in the country.
Residents in areas experiencing persistent rains are advised to remain alert for possible flooding and landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous communities.
PAGASA also warned of strong to gale-force winds in several areas, while rough to very rough seas are expected along parts of the country’s northern and western seaboards.
