MANILA — Senator Jinggoy Estrada is once again at the center of a corruption scandal as the Sandiganbayan issued arrest and hold departure orders against him over plunder and graft charges. The case involves alleged anomalies in flood control projects valued in the billions.
Prosecutors claim Estrada conspired with former DPWH officials to divert public funds through questionable transactions. The charges, filed by the Office of the Ombudsman, accuse the group of misusing resources intended to protect communities from flooding.
Estrada has denied the accusations, asserting that the complaints are riddled with inconsistencies. He pledged to face the charges head‑on, confident that he will be acquitted. This latest case adds to his history of legal troubles, including his involvement in the pork barrel scandal.
