MANILA – The University of Santo Tomas moved one step closer to the UAAP Season 88 Finals after defeating Far Eastern University in a playoff to enter the stepladder quarterfinals.
The Tigresses dropped the opening set but bounced back strongly to secure a 16-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-16 victory.
This marks UST’s sixth consecutive Final Four appearance, continuing a consistent run since 2019.
They will now face Adamson University in the next round, where they seek redemption after struggling against the Lady Falcons earlier this season.
A win would send UST to a clash with defending champion National University for a chance to reach the Finals against De La Salle University.
Coach Shaq Delos Santos expressed confidence in his team’s ability to rise to the challenge.
Angeline Poyos delivered a game-high 26 points, supported by strong performances from Jurado, Gula, and Bron.
Pepito dominated defensively, while Carballo efficiently directed the offense.
FEU, led by Gerzel Petallo, wrapped up its season in fifth place after the loss.
