STA. MARIA, Bulacan — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has completed the distribution of cash relief assistance to thousands of tricycle drivers in this municipality, benefiting more than 7,000 members of various tricycle operators and drivers associations (TODA).
The payout was carried out over three consecutive days and organized in batches to ensure an orderly and efficient process. Each qualified beneficiary received PHP 5,000 in financial aid.
DSWD Region 3 Director Venus Rebuldera visited the distribution site to monitor the activity and ensure that the payout proceeded without issues.

Sixth District Representative Salvador “Ador” Pleyto said the assistance is intended to help drivers cope with the continuing rise in fuel prices. He explained that the aid could serve as additional support for daily fuel expenses, which have increased due to global oil market pressures linked to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
Organizers highlighted that strict screening procedures were followed during the payout. Beneficiaries were required to present valid identification and complete necessary verification steps, including signatures and photo documentation, to confirm eligibility.
According to coordinators, the staggered, batch-by-batch system helped maintain order and prevented congestion at the venue. They added that the activity was kept low-key and focused on efficient service delivery.
Local leaders noted that the financial assistance provides meaningful relief to TODA members in Sta. Maria, many of whom continue to feel the impact of rising fuel costs on their livelihood.
