MALOLOS CITY — The Malolos City Government has started distributing ₱3,000 in fuel assistance to local drivers and fishermen affected by rising gasoline and crude oil prices, a consequence of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
Mayor Atty. Christian Natividad clarified that the aid comes from the city’s own funds, not the national government. “What we are providing is local government assistance. It is separate from the P5,000 that qualified individuals may receive from the national government through the DSWD,” he said.
The mayor emphasized that distribution is carefully organized and limited to qualified recipients. Beneficiaries must have proper identification and documentation to ensure the aid reaches those who need it. “This is not a large-scale political event or handout. It’s batch-by-batch, quietly distributed to ensure fairness,” he added.
The assistance program covers various sectors, including jeepney drivers, motorcycle riders, tricycle operators, and fishermen. In total, Mayor Natividad said the city has allocated around ₱10 million for this initiative.
He also stressed that any mention of ₱5,000 likely refers to separate aid from the national government. “The city is providing ₱3,000. Additional amounts from national programs are handled independently,” he noted.
Mayor Natividad described the support as significant for drivers and fishermen, providing relief amid the challenging fuel price surge.
