QUEZON CITY — Batanes residents are set to receive high-quality medical screening as the PCSO rolls out the REMEX KA6, a portable AI X-ray system previously evaluated in NASA’s astronaut imaging trials. Selected as the top device, it proved its precision and reliability in demanding test conditions.
Compact, lightweight, and battery-operated, the machine is ideal for reaching isolated villages in Basco and Sabtang. Its AI can detect Tuberculosis and six other chest-related diseases, including pneumonia, masses, pneumothorax, pleural effusion, and bone fractures, providing immediate on-site diagnosis.

“This deployment fulfills President Marcos’ directive to deliver advanced healthcare technology directly to communities,” said PCSO GM Melquiades Robles. “By leveraging modern AI solutions, we are offering accurate and safe diagnostics to those who need it most.”
With low radiation exposure and rapid results, the initiative brings world-class healthcare capabilities to the country’s most remote islands. (EL AMIGO)
