MANILA – Tuesday will see mostly fair weather across the Philippines, with some localized thunderstorms expected due to prevailing easterly winds, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely over Northern Samar and Eastern Samar, which could cause flash floods or landslides in affected areas, PAGASA said. Winds will generally be light to moderate, and seas will remain slightly to moderately rough. No potential tropical cyclones are being tracked at this time.
PAGASA also announced the conclusion of the northeast monsoon (“amihan”) and the start of the warm, dry season. Maximum temperatures are forecast to hit 34°C in Zamboanga and Davao. Heat index values, which account for humidity, may reach 40°C in Dagupan City and 34°C in some Metro Manila locations. The agency reminded the public to take precautions against heat stress.
